DSU Resolves

  1. To have the following policy with regard to the goals and objectives of welfare services.

Goals

To provide effective, comprehensive and accessible advice and support to all students.

To inform students of issues relating to their well being (for example over financial, health, housing and safety issues)

Objectives

To increase and develop links with relevant external agencies

To develop and maintain effective and comprehensive information systems

To work towards employment of specialist staff to assist the Education and Welfare Officer

To develop effective links with colleges

To encourage college based welfare services and work as a resource for them.

To provide a wide range of leaflets, condoms, ribbons and other relevant promotion materials.

To develop an effective system to manage time and resources to enable proper coverage of all aspects.

To support the DSU Officers in achieving their aims and objectives.

To provide an effective handover between sabbaticals and line officers.

To promote effective equal opportunities policies both internally and externally.

DSU Mandates

  1. The present and future Education and Welfare Officers to work towards these goals, to promote them within the University and to update them as necessary.
  2. The present officer to stick them up on the wall of his office so that they don't get forgotten.

R2: Maybe this sort of thing should be done more often with policy. A big (A2? A1?) copy of Articles I and II on all office walls wouldn't hurt either...
