Miscellaneous Hackery

Site: CotH, Section: Hackery, Page: Censorship.

There have been a number of attempts to censor hacks in the name of something. We were never entirely clear on why, it just seemed to be important to the people trying. Accusations of giving an unwelcoming impression were quite common, though. The 'glitter incident' was probably the strangest of these - how putting a tube of glitter on the walls [1] helped welcome people we were never sure.

So, if you think that censoring us was a good idea, you'll probably want to do the same to large parts of this section. Well, you can't, but feel free to read it just so you know what you're going to complain about. Either that or find something else to read. Incidentally, we can't guarantee that you won't be offended by other bits of the site either. On the other hand, we also know of several non-hacks who've been amused by some or all of this.

Senior and Junior Reps feeling offended by any of this section should note that since they presumably meet the definition in Standing Order 0.9.0 we're not talking about them. You've probably met the people we are talking about, though.

The original hack test and Standing Order 0 are still available. Of course, now the new Standing Orders don't start with a number, it's a little out of synchronisation. Likewise, we note that Standing Order 99: Transitional Provisions is unlikely to return.

[1] Some might say that taking it out of the tube first might have helped, but it'd have been far harder to stick to the wall that way. Maybe the floor would have looked more welcoming.
